Senior Staff Software Engineer - Platform org

As a Senior Staff Software Engineer, you will be tasked with driving the transformation of one of our core systems into a scalable modern microservices architecture and defining the next generation of our platform. In this high-visibility, high-impact role, you will lead an ambitious initiative to break down a complex monolithic system written primarily in Python into a scalable, multi-tenant, cloud-native set of services. You will collaborate across the SentinelOne engineering organization with multiple engineering and product management leaders to design solutions capable of handling global SaaS scale processing petabytes of data daily.

What Will You Do?

Primary responsibilities include:

• Dive deep into our current monolithic architecture, identify pain points, and design innovative solutions to address them in an iterative way.
• Lead the design and development of a new microservices architecture that supports scalability, maintainability, and operational excellence.
• Collaborate with teams to evaluate and implement the right tools, frameworks, and methodologies for building a robust microservices ecosystem.
• Write high-quality, production-ready code in a hands-on capacity.
• Guide and mentor other engineers, contribute to their professional growth, share best practices and architectural insights, and foster a culture of engineering excellence.
• Partner with other engineering, product, design, quality, DevOps/Infra teams and leadership to align on objectives, design, timelines, and execution strategies.

What Skills and Knowledge Will You Bring?

Ideal candidates will have:

• Extensive software engineering experience, including proven expertise in architecting large-scale distributed systems and microservices architecture with a focus on performance, scalability, and reliability.
• Demonstrated experience leading the transition from a monolithic architecture to cloud-native microservices.
• Proficiency in Java and/or Go, with additional experience in Python considered a plus.
• Extensive experience with cloud platforms (AWS and/or GCP) and container orchestration using Kubernetes and Docker.
• Strong technical communication skills with the ability to articulate architectural concepts and influence engineering direction across teams, departments, and stakeholders.
